Cairo · Day programme
A half day among the churches and lanes of Coptic Cairo, beginning at the Hanging Church above the gate of the Roman Babylon Fortress.
The experience
Old Cairo holds some of the deepest layers of the city’s history. The Hanging Church, built above a gatehouse of the Roman Babylon Fortress, is known for its icons and carved wooden interior.
From there, the visit continues through the historic lanes and nearby heritage sites. It fits neatly into a morning or an afternoon, and pairs well with a museum visit.
