Start with the story of Egypt across the ages, and the Royal Mummies Hall, at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. Coptic Cairo is a short drive away, with the Hanging Church built above the gate of the Roman Babylon Fortress.
In the afternoon, choose between the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square and the Museum of Islamic Art, then end the day on the river with a felucca if you wish.
