Cairo · Day programme
A day south of Cairo among the pyramids that came before Giza: the Step Pyramid at Saqqara, the open-air museum of Memphis, and the Bent and Red Pyramids at Dahshur.
The experience
Before the pyramids of Giza, Egypt’s builders were learning. This day follows that story: the Step Pyramid of Djoser at Saqqara, one of the earliest great stone monuments, then Memphis, the first capital, with its colossal statue of Ramses II.
The day ends at Dahshur, where the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid show pyramid building being perfected. The three are separate sites outside central Cairo, so this is planned as a full day with private transport.
